Mr. Dereck Wate, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Energy Maritime, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA, Delaware, USA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). With over 20 years of experience in the shipping and oil & gas industries, he joined GEM in 2004 as Finance Manager and has since played a key role in the company’s growth and financial stewardship.
In May 2025, Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM), reinforced its long-term strategic growth vision by launching GEM Manning Services Private Limited in Mumbai. This dedicated manning arm was established to provide skilled and competent manpower for GEM’s modern and diversified fleet of oil, product, and chemical tankers.
GEM operates a modern and versatile trading fleet, supporting global energy markets through LR1 and chemical/product tanker operations. With new buildings on order and expansion plans underway, the fleet continues to grow, with further developments taking shape on the horizon.
